T'nalak Pillow was handloomed by the T'boli women of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. Fibers are from abaca plants. Traditional colors are dyed organically by boiling them in cauldrons with dyes from plants.
Traditional colors symbolize the following:
Red- blood signifying Life
Dark brown- earth
Natural- the spirit of Fu Dalo ( T'bolis believe that the spirit of Fu Dalo is in every abaca fiber used in weaving.) Hence, T'nalak should not be used for articles that would be stepped on e.g. shoes, carpet, etc.
